Early Start to the Weekend

We are heading out tomorrow to camp for the weekend. We are camping with the Carter family again but they are leaving us Friday and we are flying solo for the rest of the weekend. Pete has to work on Saturday I think. I think thier nephew is headed home this weekend too. He's a good kid, it was nice to get to meet him!

I had a hills training day today. I headed over the Chalco hills and ran the 4 mile loop. Chalco was deemed "moderate" in difficulty compared to the "easy" classification our Saturday run loop gets. I have to was hilly! Good workout though! I might start to incoporate the big loop of that lake into my weekly run schedule. We will see how brave I start to get. Our miles are starting to rev up both on the weekends and during the week. I have 10 this Saturday and we will increase every Saturday throughout the month of August. Hope the weather cooperates!!

1st Showing

We had our first house showing tonight. I was swimming with Wes at the YMCA and had to hurry home and do a whirl wind clean up of the house. I had everything out getting packed to go camping. I'm pooped!
I did a spin class today. I haven't done one since before the tri. I enjoyed it! I have hills day tomorrow. I am going to have to get out early since the heat has been so insane lately!

Here are some links to some of the pics from the triathlon!

Take Out Tuesday

Today is Take Out Tuesday. We go out to dinner as a family every Tuesday, not sure where tonight but it's good not to cook. I went to a spin class this morning before picking up Wes. This no working thing is kind of growing on me. Hmmmmmm.....

B-Day Fun

This weekend we went to Ben's birthday party. It was at a Jump House that had a velcro wall. It was a lot of you can see by the picture. Dave and I are considering purchasing a velcro wall for date nights....just kidding. After the party we went up to my parents camper for dinner. The weather was great!

Saturday morning was the perfect morning for a run. It was absolutely beautiful outside, the lake was peaceful, a cool breeze, and great company! It was a fall back week, so we did 7 miles. We start ramping it up again for the next 4 weeks! I can not beleive we are half way through our training season. I am sooooooo doing this again!

Today is a rest day for me! Nice to take it easy. We have a 7 miler on Saturday for our fall back week. By the end of next month I will run a 14 miler. Crazy stuff!

Speaking of crazy....Dave told me last night that Wes informed him that his Mickey Mouse doll is no longer allowed to sleep in bed with him because his ears are too big to fit on the pillow, so Mickey has to sleep up top (referring to the top bunk). I have no idea where this kid gets some of this stuff ;)

Dash-n-Dine Thursday

Tonight I went to a dash-n-dine with the TEAM. WE went out and ran 4 miles and then went and ate. There were 7 girls who came out tonight. It was 97 degrees for our run this evening....we were super gross when we went out to the restraunt but at least there were 7 of us who were super gross together. I ordered a "healthy" dessert so that I could have a fruity cocktail! It was fun to get to have some girl time and get in a run! I got to meet another girl who will be doing the Des Moines marathon with me. She is in OT school so hasn't been able to come out for Saturday runs. It was great to get to run with someone who will be running the marathon with me and meet someone new all at the same time!

Rainy Wednesday

Another rainy day here. We have put Wes in half day preschool during my job search. So he goes in the morning until noon. He seems to like coming home earlier. I like getting to spend more of the day with him. We decided to put our house on the market and shop for a new one. Today is day one of our house being for sale so we will see how it goes. I have been working my butt off getting the house ready. I guess that is a good way to spend my time while I am unemployed. I have another interview today, we will see. Sounds like it would be a good job for me so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Mission Accomplished!!!

Wes ran up to me and gave me a big hug AT THE FINISH LINE!!!!

I am incredibly proud to say that I have completed a triathlon. I am still in shock! AND I met my personal goal of doing it in around 2 hours. The official results:

Overall Time: 1:58:58

Overall Place: 183 (out of 250)
Swim: 17:00
Transition 1: 3:39
Bike: 1:04:48

Transition 2: 2:36

Run: 30:57

The swim was the hardest far! There were people everywhere! I swam on top of people, they swam on top of me, lifeguards had to jump in to save was insane! I was totally not prepared for that chaos and it completely threw me for a loop. But I made it. It took me a third of the way through the ride to calm down from all of that chaos, but when I did I knew I would finish. A buddy of mine ran the last 1.5 miles of the race with me which was a huge bonus. I am the most pumped that I ran 10 minute miles after the swim and bike. I am still in shock that I actually DID a triathlon. Wow!

Tomorrow is the big day! Triathlon day! I am nervous and excited. I got my gear all packed up and am ready to roll. I hope I can sleep tonight!

I had a dental appointment at 7:15AM and then a job interview at 11AM. Tough day, I dont like doing either of those two things.

I got in a brick today. I swam the 500 meters and ran 3 miles. I am getting pretty pumped for Sunday. I am easing off tomorrow and only swimming and then taking off Friday and Saturday to make sure I am well rested for the race. Umm...a bug just landed on the computer screen.....

Fun Day!

We had a great day. I kept Wes out of pre-school today and we went to the zoo and a splash park. This is a picture from the Skyfari Tram going over the zoo. That was both of our first times on the Skyfari ride. It was super fun! Wes loved it, he kept hollering "Hi Down There" to all the animals as we passed by.
I am winding down the training this week, taking a break to be on top of my game for the triathlon on Sunday. Yesterday I rode for 30 minutes and ran 2 miles. I am taking today off and getting in an easier workout tomorrow and Thursday. I am getting excited for race day!
I have a brutal day tomorrow. I start off with a dental appointment at 7:15 AM and a job interview at 11. Not sure which is worse....I guess since I have to pay to go to the dentist then that is the more evil one. Keeping my fingers crossed for the interview!

Rocking the Weekend!

Last night we took Wes to see Despicable Me. It was a really cute film. We all enjoyed it. Today I went and ran 6 miles with the group and then Wes and Dave joined me for the Run For Justin 5k. We got stuck in the waaaay back of the pack for the start and spent the first half mile weaving through the crowd so we could run a normal pace. It all went to a good cause so I was glad to have the crowd! Results are already in! I got 389 out of 563, I got 191 out of 316 for women, and an overall time of 36:15. That is 7 minutes slower than my first 5k but it's ok, I had already put in miles and there was a crowd. Overall, a great 9 mile day! Plus I got to run with Dave and Wes which is a bonus.

Fun Friday

I am offically unemployed. I spent the day shooting off resumes and job apps, doing laundry, and getting the grocery shopping done. I also picked up Dave's and my race pakets for the RUN for Justin tomorrow. My game plan will be to run 6 miles with the group in the moring ending just in time to pack in 3 more miles for the race. I won't win any medals but I will have a nice long run day and do part of it for a good cause. BONUS: I get to do it with Dave and Wes!

Mental Health Day

I took a mental health day off work today. It was much needed, I slept in, got in a workout, hung out with Wes. We ended the day by going to the Home Run Derby sponsored by Dave's work. Wes and I got matching tatooes.
Yesterday I swan 500 meters and followed it with a 3 mile run, the two distances for the triathlon. We scoped out the path for the triathlon the other day too. I think overall I will be able to complete the race, not win it, but complete it. I'm looking forward to crossing this off my bucket list!

Long Weekend!

Wes decided he was super cool for his cartoon watching yesterday morning and needed to sport some fab shades to check out Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. He sat like that for-ever!

We had a great weekend! Friday night Dave and I went with my cousin Will to the Memorial Park concert and fireworks display. Kansas, Styx, and Foriegner played a great show. The fireworks were awesome! On Saturday I busted out a 9 mile run! Dave went with and did a 4 mile loop! I am hoping to get him hooked on running too! That night we went out to my friends house for dinner and had a good time catching up with friends I hadn't seen in a while!

On Sunday, Dave woke up at 4AM and put 2 pork butts on the smoker! Family came over about 5 and we FEASTED!!! It was soooo good!

Yesterday I did another brick. I biked 15 miles and followed it with a 3 miles run. Both are the distances for the Triathlon in a couple weeks. My confidence is growing a bit for this race!

Yesterday was also my sister's birthday so we went out to lunch and then went to see Eclipse. Yes...I liked it. Yes....I read the books. Yes....I am a grown woman confessing that I am on Team Edward.

Hey Soul Sister

I talked my sister into running the 3.1 mile loop at Zorinksy last night. She ran/walked the whole loop, a personal record for her. I left her in the dust......I went back for her though like the good big sister that I am.

Last night I went and got a nutrition gel for Saturdays run. I got GU banana strawberry. Our coach is suggesting we start trying nutrition gels, or snacks, now that our milage is getting up close to double digits. We have 9 mile run Saturday. I am nervous and excited all at the same time!

Totals for June for the month of June I logged:
swimming: 120 minutes
Biking: 33 miles
Spin class: 75 minutes
Running: 42.8 miles.
Since begining TNT training on May 15th I have run 66.7 miles.

What does that all equate to:
I have lost 1/2 inch off my hips and I have gained 2 pounds. GAINED 2 pounds??? Soooo not fair! Time to re-evaluate the diet.
